You are now entering the land of the rich and beautiful. If you think you are rich and pretty, you will definitely find others that are richer and prettier than you. That is the summer in Capri. So wear your best bikinis and day dresses and come ready to drink, eat, and be fabulous.
Besides the typical Capri walking tour down Pucci Gucci way, there is actually tons of breathtaking hikes to do
in Capri.
Once you arrive off the funiculare, steps behind the balcony view, you will find the famous Capri “Piazzetta” (meaning “little town square”) where everyone beautiful are sitting outside around the cafe patios for a see and be seen Capri moment. You can continue down the walking path from the Piazzetta which takes you on a stunning 20 minute walk around The beautiful Capri town. But then, instead of ending back in the piazzetta, keep going where everyone else loops back up. You can walk all around the edge of the cliffs and up hills and steps with magnificent views of the island. There is a good natural restaurant with great balcony about 20 min into the walk. When you think you are tired and walked too far, keep going. It’s at the top of a lot of steps. You can’t get lost, there is only one path. If you get super tired, just think that there is wine at the top of the steps and then you can just get drunk and roll yourself down the hill.
You can also take the bus from Capri town to the Anacapri bus stop and hike around the north edge of the island to the lighthouse. (must find someone with a map or a guide). This is definitely for the more athletic hiker types but again at the end you are rewarded with wine, at Punta Carena, the lighthouse (see more below.)
Of course at some point you MUST sit in the piazzetta during appertivo time which is between 7-9pm and have a drink just to feel what most people come to Capri for. It’s definitely a scene and a show to say the least.
I always say the second we get off the boat from Naples,
“I feel richer and prettier as soon as my feet touch the island”
Best beach clubs:
Super chic every blogger/ almost-famous americana is here. It’s awesome, if you can compete with the who’s hotter and cooler than who game, get right in.
25 euro to enter plus 10-15 for chair/bed.
PRO-TIP*** if you don’t want to spend the day laying out, you can just come to the restaurant for lunch and watch the scene from a step above while slurping speghetti vongole and house sangria. It’s definitely a must do during the trip. Coolest place, best food.
Just next door to Fontellina, is the more local, chill but just as beautiful, and better swimming without the american duchy attitude beachclub, Luigi’s.
similar price of entrance.
PRO-TIP*Spend the beach day at Luigi’s and then go over to Fontellina for late lunch/ early appertivo, drinks and snacks before the sunset.
A nice beach club to watch the mega yachts go by and chill in shallow water. Can lay on beds halfway in the water as opposed to the other that are on concrete and giant rocks.
PROTIP* Call ahead with a cute American nice voice and ask them to reserve you beach chairs by the water.
About 15-20 euro to enter, less than the other two hotspots.
AKA, THE LIGHTHOUSE
The free swimming spot and most local, but cool place on the island. There is a beach club above the sea with a swimming pool that is 25 euros to enter, if you want more glam. Or you can lay your towel on the hard concrete slab like everyone else and pretend to be Italian! For sure this is the best place to watch the sunset!
Perfect spot for kids, (if I had kids I would pay for the pool chairs and leave the kids to play with the Italian scunizzi (rough children) and learn how to rock jump.
PRO-TIP* find the amazing island hiking trail and hike all day to end at the lighthouse for sunset around 7-8pm where there is an awesome bar with live music on the weekends and have a spritz with the hot Italian jetset hipsters.
I do trust all of the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for novices. Could you please lengthen them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
This is a great tip especially to those fresh to the blogosphere. Simple but very accurate info… Appreciate your sharing this one. A must read post!
